SUMMARY
Renowned Architect designed Coastal Retreat
DESCRIPTION
A magnificent residence found on Pittwater's secret paradise, Coasters Retreat. This property boasts exceptional panoramic views over the tranquil waters of The Basin and surrounding Ku-ring-gai Chase National Park beyond and is just a short boat ride from Palm Beach.
This little-known gem of a location is only an hour north of Sydney and offers the ultimate lifestyle destination. Coasters was originally settled in the 1820's and has become a residential haven for a few lucky individuals. Here there are no cars, no roads, no shops, just magnificent waterways, beaches, and unspoilt native bushland.
This executive residence set in a tightly held community of only 50 homes is surrounded by a natural wonderland with abundant wildlife and so much tranquillity. Coasters Beach House has a timeless feel in its setting and was a finalist in the NSW Chapter of the Australian Institute of Architects Residential Awards when originally built.
The inspired design consists of 3 interconnected curved roof pavilions which contain the different zones and levels of the house which follow the gently sloping site. The first pavilion contains an open kitchen together with a generous dining living space with surrounding glass walls which open directly to the wide covered outdoor decks and views beyond. Second is an alternate relaxation space for watching tv and the master double bedroom and ensuite. Third contains 2 more double bedrooms with children's sleeping lofts, both with their own bathrooms as well as a laundry.
Most recently Ian Traill Architects have totally reimagined the interiors and exterior by adding to the outdoor entertaining areas plus a studio. The striking semicircular roof of the Studio mirrors the curved roof aesthetic of the original house. This offers an additional self-contained flexible living space with its own bathroom and an option of extra storage or sleeping in the Loft.
The entire home has been upgraded both internally and externally with new fixtures and fittings, finishes and equipment and offers its new owners a truly unique piece of paradise.
