Although these pups are ready to leave their close to Xmas, it must be stressed that these are a long term commitment, not just a Xmas gift. Schnauzers can live for 12- 15 years.
They are very much family members, pretty much little humans with fur.

Miniature schnauzers are known for their funny and unique personalities, their allergy-friendly coats, and their distinct features - mainly their beards.

Miniature Schnauzers need to be part of the action in a family home and therefore thrive indoors, with easy access to outdoors as they like to be on patrol and guard the home or welcome guests as they arrive.

Mini Schnauzers do not like to be left alone for long hours, and enjoy you taking them on outings, or working from home. They need dedicated sleeping spaces, and will also try to claim your favourite resting spaces too!

Those pleading puppy eyes notice every meal you are preparing, so you need to be disciplined about their feeding routines.

These compact dogs originated from the larger Schnauzer, and were bred to be good rat catchers and guard dogs. They will alert you to the trail of any small rodent, and enjoy having their noses to the ground on a walk.
These dogs would be great at agility training or any other training that keeps them active, and have a natural interest in just about everything.

They are easily trained but training is best to start early as they are extremely intelligent and, like all dogs, can develop bad habits if given opportunity, however this breed will quickly take onboard training rules.

Like all dogs, the puppy years can be a lot of work as well as a lot of fun, but the rewards of training pay off as they get older. If you do not have time to train your pup, this is not the time to bring one into your home. I can recommend easy to use online courses if you do not have training support available.

We have noticed these pups already have unique personalities, yet there are some strong similarities - their loyalty, strong companionship, gentle presence with humans, playfulness, and their ability to seemingly stare into your soul and communicate with you. Another thing they seem to have in common is their unusual way of sleeping, preferring their head to be lower than the rest of the body, which is known as the Schnauzer hang.
The American Schnauzer association has this to say:
"The well-proportioned compactness of the Miniature probably has much to do with the popularity of the breed, although many fanciers will say that it is his excessively happy and friendly disposition and adaptability as a house pet. The heavy beard that all but hides the muzzle of the Miniature Schnauzer provides him with a comic opera mask behind which he can plan his endearing mischief undetected."

The first time you meet a Schnauzer will be the moment you fall in love forever. If you can, we recommend arranging a visit to meet your new puppy before you take them home. You could also meet their parents. After their initial guarding barks, you will see how adorable they are, even as adults.
