Pushing the Boundaries of Australian C Drama: An Interview with the Producers of 'Li'l Horrors'
$7.50
DESCRIPTION
An Australian Broadcasting Authority (ABA) report released in March 2000 proclaimed that over the twenty years since the children's (C) classification was introduced to regulate production for commercial television, there was a clear indication of 'an increase in the quantity, quality, diversity and Australianness of programmes for children'. The highly subjective issue of quality remains an area of contention with some independent producers. How does Australian children's television stand up in an increasingly competitive market? The Australian content standard is under review with the ABA, who are currently asking for feedback on a preliminary issues paper released in November. Bec Matthews speaks to producers Tony Wright and Stuart Menzies about working to the ABA regulations during script production of the highly successful, AFI-nominated children's puppetry sitcom Li'l Horrors.
