'The issues arising from school-based communications are vast and varied. In schools with radio stations, teachers are often caught in the middle, facing a myriad of decisions. This paper will begin by highlighting some of the issues involved in the establishment of a school-based radio station. Then it will move on to the issue of censorship, arguing that censorship is an essential part of school-based broadcasting. Next will be an acknowledgement that the benefits of a school-based radio station extend beyond the technical skills the students will aquire. Following on from these issues will be a summary of discussion responses from student teachers on the topic.'
