The 2023 SAC Pack has arrived! This SAC Pack has been created by experienced Media VCE teachers to reflect the current Media study design (2018–2023). The SAC Pack includes sample school-assessed coursework for both Unit 3, Outcome 1 'Narrative and ideology' and Unit 4, Outcome 2 'Agency and control in and of the media'. Also included are some structured questions for students to practice reflecting on their media production process as part of their School Assessed Task (SAT).
Each section of the SAC Pack includes carefully written questions that reflect the changes in the study design and a comprehensive marking guide which includes 'teacher notes' that explain the aspects of each question and 'marking criteria' that break down how each question could be graded.
The SAC Pack is a powerful class resource which allows students to practice structured style questions and longer responses when preparing for assessment tasks. It also provides teachers with a sample template to create their own school-assessed coursework.
The SAC Pack includes three sections:
Unit 3, Outcome 1 – Narrative and ideology
This sample school assessed coursework assessment for the outcome 'Narrative and ideology' has been designed to:
have students approach a broad range of the key knowledge and skills
reflect exam-style questions
be accessible to differing abilities
Assessment includes 5 short to medium-length structured questions and 1 extended answer question. This extended answer question can be used as part of the assessment or could form a separate part of testing, such as a take-home essay.
Unit 4, Outcome 2 – Agency and control in and of the media
This sample school assessed coursework assessment for the outcome 'Agency and control in and of the media' has been designed to:
have students approach a broad range of the key knowledge and skills
reflect exam-style questions
be accessible to differing abilities
Assessment includes 5 short to medium-length structured questions and 1 extended answer question. This extended answer question can be used as part of the assessment or could form a separate part of testing, such as a take-home essay.
Media Production Process Reflection Structured Questions
These sample structured questions allow students to practice reflecting on their process of working through the media product process (MPP) as part of creating their media product for the School Assessed Task. These questions are not designed to be used as a part of formal assessment, but expose students to the type of self-reflection that may be required on the end-of-year exam.
Includes 7 short to medium-length answer questions.
NB: The 2023 SAC Pack is not an official VCAA document and should only be used as a guiding document. Any material used for VCE assessment should be modified so it is appropriate to your cohort of students.
