Shimano Sedona Reel – FI Model Fishing Reel (We sell small to large sizes)
The Sedona FI fishing reel for sale now, was released in 2017. Improvements on the previous series turned the humble Sedona 1000, 2000, 2500 and 3000 into one hell of an entry level spin reel. The 4000 or 5000 is perfection for those looking for a GP spin reel where quality is not sacrificed for the accessible price. The Sedona FI is now even better value for money. What’s more, there are 2 new sizes from which to choose being the 6000 or 8000. So, you can now take a Sedona FI to the rocks, the beach and out to sea with either of these 2 new sizes.
Hagane gears provide super strength, brilliant reliability, especially under load, and phenomenal endurance that will see your Sedona provide a silky smooth, beautifully meshed crank for years to come.
Casting manners of the Sedona fishing reel were always better than average considering the price. Now, the cast matches it with reels in a much higher price bracket, with superb manners and a great feel. Expect awesome length and accuracy from every cast. The new porting gives a brilliant new look also, making the Sedona appear very well dressed, even alongside more expensive company.
This is the ideal entry level reel for you. The smaller sizes work beautifully for all of your inshore favourites. You’re covered for finesse fishing the likes of Trout, Bass, Bream, Whiting and Flathead. Size up your reel and tackle a larger class of the same fish.
Grab a 6000 or 8000 for big Snapper from the reef and Yellowtail Kingfish from the wash near shore or the blue water offshore. The 5000, 6000 and 8000 will also make for cheaper access to Big Tailor and Aussie Salmon from the rocks and surf. The 8000 has enough drag and line capacity to mix it up with big surf-side Mulloway.

Buyers Guide – Fishing Applications and Fishing Rod Suggestions
To assist you making the best decision on what size reel to purchase and what rods generally match we have crafted this handy little buying guide…
Small Size Models (1000 – 2000 – 2500 or 3000)
Shimano Sedona 1000 FI Reels are great little reels for freshwater and light saltwater fishing, ideal for targeting anything from bream, to whiting, trout and bass. We suggest matching with a graphite fishing rod with a line rating around the 1-4kg mark.
Shimano Sedona 2000 or 2500 size reels are that next step up for those that wish to fish with either slightly heavier fishing lines or for those that desire more line capacity in fact out of all sizes we sell the Sedona 2500 FI Fishing reel is our biggest seller by far. Such a great little versatile reel. We suggest pairing with a graphite spin type fishing rod with a rating of around 2-5kg.
Shimano Sedona 3000 FI Reel is that reel which suits the angler that desires a reel a little bit bigger for heaver inshore fishing targeting big flathead, or mulloway in lakes and rivers etc. A suitable rod for this reel would be ideally a graphite fishing rod that has a line rating of around 3-6kg.
Medium Size Models (4000 or 5000 size)
Shimano Sedona 4000 FI Reels are suited to heavier inshore fishing such as fishing for murray cod, barramundi, jewfish and can even be used as a heavier reel for bait fishing for bream, flathead and other estuary and lake fish species. The reel also makes a great light beach or rock fishing reel to chase bream, whiting dart and more. But it doesn’t stop there, the Shimano Sedona 4000 FI Reel makes a great light offshore reel as well for reef fishing and light sport fishing.
Shimano Sedona 5000 FI Reels are suited to the exact same specs as above the only difference is the line capacity, The Shimano Sedona 5000 Reel holds more line and weighs a few grams extra, that’s it! So, if you want a reel with a little more line capacity go a 5000.
When it comes to matching a rod with a Sedona 4000 or 5000 we suggest that it is matched up on a rod around 6-8ft for heavier inshore. Match it to a bait rod rated anywhere around 3-6kg mark or on a graphite lure rod rated up to 10kg for the likes of catching barra, cod and snapper. For light surf fishing we suggest a light 9ft to 11ft graphite coastal surf rod rated around 3-5kg+.
Large Size Models (6000 or 8000 size)
Ideal for beach, rock or offshore boat fishing the 6000 or 8000 size reel are the largest of class and suit 9-13ft beach and rock rods or 6-7ft boat rods rated around 8kg+ Ideal for targeting Australian Salmon, mackerel, tailor, bonito, kingfish, snapper and so much more.
Whatever fishing method you choose to fish we have a rod to match. Head over to our fishing rods category to view our range for sale and if you get stuck or need more help on matching a Sedona reel to a suitable rod, just get in touch with us.
