1949 Moto Guzzi Airone 250
In 1939 Moto Guzzi would revise the PE 250 and re-release it under the name of the âAironeâ (Ital for âHeronâ). This was reportedly done in an effort to better fit with the marqueâs animal-named models, plus all the revisions earned a new moniker. The Airone would stay in production until 1957, but before the plug was pulled Guzzi would introduce a Sport model in â48, at which point the original Airone became the âAirone Turismoâ (tourer).
The 12hp Airone Sport was capable of at least 100kph, an impressive feat for a 250 in the 40âs! The model would further earn a reputation as a solid, but lightweight luxury bike. Thanks to a higher compression ratio and larger 25mm carb, the Sport-spec was more powerful than its Turismo counterpart, while its use of aluminium wheels helped performance & handling. The Airone Sport would become the most popular mid-sized sport bike in Italy for well over a decade, a significant achievement for post WW2 given the enormous popularity and demand for small capacity economical transport.
This Airone Sport has been beautifully preserved in original condition, is fully documented and holds FIM certification. Located with its owner in Italy, the advertised price includes all shipping and arrival charges into .
