1974 Ducati 750 Supersport
In the world of collectible motorcycles, no manufacturer can equal the broad-based desire of Ducati. If a list was compiled of every bike in every collection around the globe, it would come as no surprise to see Ducati as the most dominate marque, and there is no model more sought-after than the 1974 750 Supersport, better known as the Greenframe.
Whilst there are many other bikes that are far rarer, and command much higher values, the Greenframe has become one of the ultimate trophy items â no collection is considered complete if there is a Greenframe missing. The worldâs obsession with Greenframes has driven their values beyond the reach of most enthusiasts and planted them firmly into the world of Van Gogh, Monet, and other examples of irreplaceable collectibles; owners of Greenframes are but Custods, who enjoy ownership, safe in the knowledge that their investments enjoy year in and year out growth in value.
Sadly many Greenframes are hidden away like pieces of valuable art, but for the true enthusiast, owning an asset that has out-performed almost every form of investment on earth runs a distant second place to the joy and exhilaration of riding one through the hills and byways â there is no other sound like that of bevel Ducati.Â
The 1974 Ducati 750SS Greenframe offered here was first delivered in Belgium and remained in that country until mid-1990's when it was sold to a Mr. Wimmer who shipped the bike to Germany. At that time Mr Wimmer was a US citizen so the bike was imported into the United States where it remained until 2009/2010 when it was sold to Alex Krisic, a known Green Frame restorer in Adelaide (South Australia). In 2013 the bike was sold to the current owner and has undergone a meticulous restoration that has taken many years to complete due to sourcing an array of unique Greenframe parts that had over time, gone missing or were worn beyond service.
