The Bentley Eight was introduced in 1984 as a more contemporary and accessible version of the Mulsanne, aimed at attracting a younger, more dynamic clientele to the revered British marque. With its upright mesh grille, minimalist badging, and restrained styling, the Eight retained all the gravitas expected of a Crewe-built car—yet presented it in a more understated and sporting manner. Built on Bentley’s traditional ladder-frame platform and powered by the iconic 6.75L V8 mated to a more reliable 3-speed automatic transmission, the Eight was a grand touring saloon in the purest sense: refined, unhurried, and immensely capable on long-distance journeys.

This model is often regarded as one of the most reliable of all Bentley saloons, thanks to its simpler, more robust engineering. It does not feature the later and more complex electronically-controlled suspension systems, making it a preferred choice among classic Bentley enthusiasts for its mechanical integrity and long-term maintainability. Its naturally-aspirated 6.75-litre V8 delivers turbine-like smoothness and ample low-end torque with effortless composure.

This magnificent example was built in late 1989 and complied in January 1990. It is one of the very few Bentley Eights delivered new in solid Black, a colour seldom seen on these cars and perfectly paired with a Mushroom leather interior accented by high-gloss Piano wood trim throughout the cabin. It was delivered new by Hamilton’s Rolls-Royce & Bentley of Richmond, the premier Bentley dealer in Victoria, and has travelled just 154,099km from new.

Adding a tasteful and eye-catching twist to its already striking presentation, this Bentley has been rebadged with deep red Bentley 'B' emblems in place of the standard black items, complemented by matching deep red coachline pinstripes. As there is no red version of the original Eight badge, a Turbo R badge has been fitted to the boot lid purely to complete the look—though the car remains an original, naturally-aspirated Eight. The original factory black badges—including the correct Eight boot badge—are included with the vehicle for those wishing to return it to factory specification.

Inside, the car has been subtly modernised with the addition of a high-end Alpine sound system featuring DAB digital radio, Bluetooth connectivity, and colour-adjustable display and button backlighting, which can be matched to the factory instruments for a cohesive and refined look. It blends seamlessly with the cabin while greatly improving daily usability and driving enjoyment.
